Jake Plumb - a Junior to watch...

Jake Plumb in full swing

Jake Plumb has had a fantastic month, the 14 year old who has been coached by John O’Leary (Beadlow Manor Professional) since he was 8, was recently invited to be part of England Golf U16 Regional squad training program. This followed a selection weekend at Woodhall Spa where Jake shot an impressive 3 over par gross on the renowned Hotchkin Course in testing conditions.

Jake plays for CAGU (Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union) and has represented the County in U14, U16, U18 and men’s B team this season.  Jake will be part of the East Midland regional squad which is made up of 5 Counties (Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire & Rutland, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire).

Jake had another excellent result on Sunday 13th October posting his first under par score of 71.  He achieved this after qualifying to play in the CAGU David Milburn Men’s Order Of Merit final at St. Ives Golf Club. His 71 was enough to win on countback, with a birdie, bogey, birdie finish, carding a 2 under back 9 and 5 birdies overall.  This result elevated him to 8th position in the final order of merit standings.  These recent scores have resulted in a handicap reduction to 3.2!

This weekend Jake will be representing CAGU U16’s at Kedleston Park Golf Club Derby in the Midlands U16 Boys County Cup (individual) where he is hoping to continue his form and support the team.  Jake is also excited to be starting the regional training at the end of October.
